Have noticed previous posts regarding FEL float feature "losing" detent setting.

Seems most have come after just a few hours of failure, suggesting that x-percentage of these units might just be lemons that tend to fail early if they're going to fail, much like a piece of electronic equipment.

Now my 3130HST has lost the "detente" feature with just over 20 hours on clock. VERY happy with machine otherwise, but wondering if others have noticed same thing with regard to an early failure of this feature.

The bucket still floats OK, just have to keep the joystick pushed forward all the time to keep it active. Assuming doesn't hurt anything to do this before addressing "detent failure" with dealer.

Got a lot of work I want to get done in the next few days, mostly with box blade and scraper blade, before tying up for repairs. I'm thinking of at least getting to the 50-hour servicing (that's probably be in the next couple of weeks) before contacting dealer about repairs, in case anything else pops up during break-in.

any thoughts?

The danger would be if the detent won't set because the spool isn't moving completely up into the float postion for the detent spring set to work. Normally, it's a spring adjustment, and holding in the float position will not cause you any problems. You will be able to tell if the bucket is floating. ....

New 2910, float quit holding after about 7 hrs tractor use. Only used float 5 times, probably 10 minutes total. I jammed the lever to float at a slight angle, it never held again. Thought it was my fault. ....

Probaly not your fault. Detent spring failure or debris jamb. Let the dealer deal with it under warranty. ....

Bob,

I haven't approached dealer yet. Just over 42 hours on tractor now and thinking I'll bring it up when I go by dealership to pick up supplies for 50-hour service. ....
